We vacationed in Patagonia, a small town in the Southern Arizona wine country, this summer. It was such a great place to go away from it all. There was no traffic and we didn't really see anyone nearby the vacation home we stayed at, which was so peaceful.
The home we stayed at was so lovely and had a deck the length of the house.
It was so relaxing to sit out on the deck and watch the birds eat at the bird feeder. We had almost every meal out there. With a view like this, can you blame us?

We went on a 3 hour horseback ride through the high desert with a fantastic guide. Jeremy's horse kept wanting to stop and snack on the grass every little bit. My horse did too, but since we were behind Jeremy and saw when his horse decided to have a break, I would pull up my horse so he couldn't eat.
Jeremy's horse certainly didn't want my horse to even try to get ahead of him and would lunge and snap at my horse if he got anywhere close. That resulted in a few interesting moments as my horse would scamper to get away from Jeremy's.
We enjoyed our ride through the gorgeous countryside very much.
Those mountains in the distance were the ones filmed in Tombstone.
One evening there was a phenomenal sunset with the clouds. Just below that mountain ridge at the horizon, we would see the lights of Nogales sparkle at night. Hey, if we were a mere 15 miles away from Nogales, Mexico- I think that counts as #12 Go on a trip with Jeremy to another state and not visit family!
I just couldn't get over how pretty the landscape was and it was so refreshing to my soul just to watch the sun change the colors throughout the day.

I just love sunsets! Especially here in Arizona, I think we have the best ones I have ever seen.
You can kind of see the lights of Nogales in this picture. I don't know that I would want to live here out so far from everyone on a day to day basis, but for vacation it was perfect. The house we stayed at had the local Patagonia newsletter which was about 40 pages long. I flipped through it and was highly amused because half the stories were either about dogs or other animals or written from a dog's perspective. You got to love the small town news.
On the last day we went down to Patagonia Lake. Maybe next time we'll rent a paddle boat and cruise around the lake.

We haven't vacationed together-just the two of us- in quite a while and it was just what we needed. Time to get away from it all with no distractions.  It is always nice to go to different parts of Arizona that we have never seen before. I'm so thankful that we were able to spend a quality weekend together.
I seriously stated feeling depressed when we came back to the city and the traffic.
I'm thinking we should start planning our vacation for next year. Maybe we'll come back to Patagonia.
